FIRST CIRCULAR

Based on the overwhelming success at the previous six International Conferences on Selenium in the Environment and Human Health held in 2009 (Suzhou, China), 2011 (Suzhou, China), 2013 (Hefei, China), 2015 (Sao Paulo, Brazil), 2017 (Stockholm, Sweden), and 2019 (Xi’an, China), the 7th International Conference on Selenium in the Environment and Human Health will take place on September 24-27, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. This conference will be our first post-COVID-19 conference after the cancellation of our proposed 2021 conference in Berlin, Germany. We will continuously create an interdisciplinary atmosphere that connects researchers representing the multi- nature of selenium (Se) throughout the world. It is our continued intent to expand our multi-faceted perspectives on Se research with the particular focus on the environment and human health.

§   Soil Se distribution and worldwide Se deficiency and selenosis

§   Transport and fate of Se in the air-water-soil/sediment-plant and animal systems

§   Selenoproteins and cellular/molecular and physiological functions of Se in animal and human health

§   Se bioavailability and plant Se uptake and metabolism

§   Biotransformation of Se and techniques for Se speciation analysis

§   Environmental Se pollution and remediation technologies

§   Se interactions with other trace elements in the terrestrial and aquatic environments

§   Development and use of Se-biofortified agricultural products

§   Implementation of biofortification strategy in functional agriculture for human health

§   Se bio-accessibility

§   Cellular and molecular functions of Se

§   Genetics of Se accumulation

§   Microbial communities and Se uptake and transformation
